Bikes on Buses
Bike racks are fitted to all buses on the following Metro routes
- 35 Riccarton-Heathcote
- 90 Rangiora
- 92 Rangiora via Woodend and Waikuku
- 3 Airport-Sumner via Avonhead
- 7 Halswell
- 77 Kennedy's Bush
- 11 Styx Mill-Westmorland
- 14 Harewood-Dyers Pass
- 15 Bishopdale-Beckenham
- 18 St Albans-Huntsbury
- 21 Ilam-Mt Pleasant
- 28 Lyttelton and Rapaki

Bike Rack Rules
- If you're taking the bus, it's free to use the bike rack.
- There is a $2 (one way) charge for taking your bike on the Diamond Harbour ferry.
- Cyclists are responsible for loading and unloading their bike.
- The bike rack takes two bikes at a time. If it's full, wait for the next bus.
- Bikes cannot be carried on buses that travel inside the City Bus Exchange building. This affects route nos. 3, 7 and 35. Cyclists using these routes must board or disembark one stop before or after the City Bus Exchange.
- Cyclists may board and disembark buses stopping at the City Bus Exchange Colombo St platforms.
- Racks are designed to carry bikes with wheels larger than 16" diameter.
- The maximum insured value of any bike on the rack is $1500.

How to load your bike
- Before bus arrives remove water
bottles, pumps and any loose items that
may fall off while the bus is moving.
- Inform the driver you will be loading your
bike. Load from the curbside in front of
the bus.

- Squeeze handle on bike rack to release latch and fold down bike rack.

- Lift bike onto rack and fit your front and back wheels into clearly-labelled slots.

- Raise the Support Arm up and over the front tyre, so the hook rests at the highest point on the front wheel. Board the bus.
How to unload your bike
- Use front doors to exit and inform the bus driver
you wish to unload your bike.

- Raise Support Arm off the tyre.
- Lift your bike out of the bike rack.
- If no-one else is using the bike rack, please squeeze handle and fold bike rack
up.
