Latona Vikaia and Kay Sutherland - Metro Bus Drivers of the Month

Leopard’s Kay Sutherland and Latona Vikaia have been named Metro Bus Drivers of the Month for December 2010 by helping a group of elderly people.

The group of nine from the Golden Age rest home took a lunch trip on the Orbiter to celebrate a birthday at the old brick works.

The person who contacted Metro Info said: “The lovely Maori driver was great … on their return we had another great driver - a lady who let them all off at the rest home and she got out of her seat and helped the oldest tripper of 91 years off with her walker. The ages of the group ranged from 70 to 91. They could not speak highly enough of the great service.”

Latona Vikaia has worked at Leopard for the past five months and has driven buses for three years. Apart from driving the Orbiter, he also works on a wide range of other bus routes for Leopard.

Orbiter driver Kay Sutherland has been working at Leopard for the seven years she has been a bus driver. She enjoys being a bus driver and, in particular, the friendliness at her workplace and on the buses.
