If you have an online account you can top up your Metrocard at any time. Create an online account here.

To top up and view your balance online, use the purple Top Up widget on the right of this page. Type in your metrocard number and password in the Top Up fields. This will take you to a secure site where you can use your credit card to top up your metrocard and view your balance.  Please note: online top ups are generally available within an hour however delays can be caused by the telecommunication network or bus ticketing machines forwarding data updates. If this occurs your top up could take up to 12 hours to appear on your metrocard. You also need to use your card on a bus for the top up to appear on your metrocard balance (and the 'pending' status removed).

Face to face:

You can top up on the bus, Metroinfo at Central Station or at a Metro agent.

  • On the bus  - after you swipe your card it will display.

Top up by cash, eftpos or credit card

You can top up your metrocard by cash, eftpos or credit card at:

  • A Metro Agent or our Metroinfo offices - find a Metro agent here
  • On the bus by paying the driver with cash (no eftpos or credit cards accepted).

Please remember...

When you load money onto your card, please ensure you receive a receipt and the amount loaded is correct. This means your money has been loaded onto your card. Keep a record of your Metrocard number in case you lose it!
