• Major changes to bus services in Timaru due to COVID-19

    From Thursday 26 April regular bus services are not operating in Timaru until further notice.

    The MyWay by Metro ​on demand service is available only for people working in essential services, or who are travelling for medical reasons, or to get to the supermarket.

Where to Buy

How much does it cost?

A Metrocard costs $10 and you are required to load a minimum of $10 onto the Metrocard for it to work. Thereafter, you can top-up your card with a minimum of $10 and multiples of $10 (eg $10, $20, $30).

Where do I get one and where can I top up?

You can not get a new Metrocard on buses, but you can get one and top up at the Te Ana Ngai Tahu Rock Art Centre, 2 George St , Timaru. Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am - 3pm.

Bring ID with you as staff must sight it to issue a card, accepted identifications are – drivers license, birth certificate, passport, Cando Cards or School Identification with your name and date of birth on it.
