• Major changes to bus services in Timaru due to COVID-19

    From Thursday 26 April regular bus services are not operating in Timaru until further notice.

    The MyWay by Metro ​on demand service is available only for people working in essential services, or who are travelling for medical reasons, or to get to the supermarket.

On Good Friday and Christmas Day no bus services will run. 

The Timaru Link will run to its Saturday timetable on all other public holidays. 

The Grantlea, Gleniti and Watlington services will not run on any other public holidays. 

The Temuka service will run some trips on public holidays, please contact Ritchies on 03 688 7300 for more information.

Timaru City fares (from Monday 22 July 2019)

The services that are within the Timaru City zone are Gleniti, Grantlea, Timaru Link, Watlington and the Timaru Schools service. All other services have individual fare structures. All fares are listed below.

Temuka and Washdyke Concession Fares

Concession cards are also available for Temuka and Washdyke services from the bus driver (cash only). The costs are:

Children under five travel free, when accompanied by a fare paying passenger. Children 5 – 18yrs are charged a discounted Child fare - generally around half the adult rate. Drivers may require ID to be shown.


SuperGold cardholders travel free within the Timaru and Temuka Zones during all off-peak times. That's weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm, and after 6.30 pm, and all-day weekends and public holidays. Just present your SuperGold card to the driver when boarding the bus.

Metrocard Unlimited Travel
