All detours and updates

From Wednesday 7th January there will be road works on Maidstone Rd that will require the Route 130 service to detour from its usual route until further notice.

Buses travelling southbound towards Hei Hei and Hornby will continue the normal route to Waimairi Rd, turn right on Wadeley Rd, and turn right on Maidstone Rd to resume the normal route.

Buses travelling northbound towards Avonhead will not be impacted.

Buses travelling eastbound towards Sumner will continue the norma route to Maidstone Rd, turn right on Waimairi Rd, turn left on Wadeley Rd, and turn right on Maidstone Rd to resume the normal route.

Buses travelling westbound towards Airport will not be impacted.

From Tuesday 6th January for 3 days there will be road works on Gloucester St that will require the Route 5 service to detour from its usual route.

Buses travelling eastbound towards New Brighton will continue the normal route to Gloucester St, turn left on Fitzgerald Ave, turn right on Armagh St, turn right on Stanmore Rd, and turn left on Gloucester St to resume the normal route.

Buses travelling westbound towards Rolleston will not be impacted.

From Tuesday 6th January there will be road works on Estuary Rd that will require school route 667 to detour from its usual route until further notice.

Morning trips travelling towards AGHS ad SBHS will have no detour required.

Afternoon trips travelling towards Southshore will continue the normal route to Bridge St, take the 2^nd exit at the Estuary Rd roundabout, turn right on Pine Ave, veer left to stay on Pine Ave, and continue on Rockinghorse Rd to resume the normal route.

From Tuesday 6th January there will be road works on Estuary Rd that will require school route 653 to detour from its usual route until further notice.

Morning trips travelling towards Chisnallwood Intermediate will have no detour required.

Afternoon trips travelling towards Southshore will continue the normal route to Estuary Rd, take the 1^st exit at the Bridge St roundabout, turn right on Pine Ave, veer left to stay on Pine Ave, and continue on Rockinghorse Rd to resume the normal route.

From Tuesday 6th January there will be road works on Estuary Rd that will require the Route 60 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling eastbound towards Southshore will follow the normal route along Estuary Rd, take the first exit at the roundabout on to Bridge St, turn right on to Pine Ave, veer left to stay on Pine Ave and continue on Rockinghorse Rd to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling westbound towards Hillmorton will not be impacted.

From Monday 5th January for 12 days there will be road works on Edgeware Rd that will require the Route 100 service to detour from its usual route between the hours of 9am until 4pm. 

Buses travelling eastbound towards The Palms will follow the normal route along Edgeware Rd, turn left on to Cranford St, right on to Warrington St, right on to Forfar St, continue on Madras St and turn left on to Edgeware Rd to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling westbound towards Wigram will not be impacted.

From Sunday 4th January for 8 nights there will be road works on Colombo St that will require the Route 8 service to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling northbound towards the Airport will follow the normal route along Colombo St, turn left on to Elgin St, right on to Durham St Sth, right on to Wordsworth St and left on to Colombo St to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling southbound towards Lyttelton will follow the normal route along Colombo St, turn right on to Wordsworth St, left on to Durham St Sth, left on to Elgin St and right on to Colombo St.

On Sunday 4 January 2026 for 7 days there will be road works on Harewood Road as part of the Super Week that will require Route 8 to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling southbound towards Lyttelton will continue the normal route to Harewood Rd, take the 3rd exit at the Russley Rd roundabout onto Russley Rd, take the 1st exit from SH1 onto Wairakei Rd, and continue onto Wairakei Rd to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling northbound will not be affected. 

Several stops will be affected during this detour, so we advise customers to plan ahead. This detour will be over from 5am Monday 12 January.

From Sunday 4th January for 8 nights there will be road works on Colombo St that will require the Route 44 service to detour from its usual route between the hours of 6pm until 6am.

Buses travelling northbound towards Westmorland will follow the normal route along Colombo St, turn left on to Elgin St, right on to Durham St Sth, right on to Wordsworth St and left on to Colombo St to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling southbound towards Shirley will follow the normal route along Colombo St, turn right on to Wordsworth St, left on to Durham St Sth, left on to Elgin St and right on to Colombo St.

From Monday 5th January there will be road works restarting on Flockton St that will require the Route 44 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling northbound towards Shirley will follow the normal route along Warrington St, continue on Warrington St, turn left on to Hills Rd, left on to Aylesford St, left on to Westminster St and right on to Kensington Ave to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling southbound towards Westmorland will follow the normal route along Westminster St, continue on Westminster St, left on to Francis Ave, left on to Warrington St and right on to Barbadoes St to resume the normal route.

From Sunday 4th January for 8 nights there will be road works on Colombo St that will require the Route 1 service to detour from its usual route between the hours of 6pm until 6am.

Buses travelling northbound towards Rangiora will follow the normal route along Colombo St, turn left on to Elgin St, right on to Durham St Sth, right on to Wordsworth St and left on to Colombo St to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling southbound towards Cashmere will follow the normal route along Colombo St, turn right on to Wordsworth St, left on to Durham St Sth, left on to Elgin St and right on to Colombo St.

On Sunday 4 January 2026 for 7 days there will be road works on Harewood Road as part of the Super Week that will require Route 27 to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling northbound towards Northwood will continue the normal route to Harewood Road, take the 3rd exit at the Highsted Rd roundabout, and take the 2nd exit at the Sawyers Arms Rd roundabout to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling southbound towards Huntsbury will continue the normal route to Highsted Rd, take the 2nd exit at the Sawyers Arms Rd roundabout, and take the 1st exit at the Harewood Rd roundabout to resume the normal route. 

Several stops will be affected during this detour, so we advise customers to plan ahead. This detour will be over from 5am Monday 12 January.

On Sunday 4 January 2026 for 7 days there will be road works on Harewood Road as part of the Super Week that will require Route 125 to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling northbound towards Redwood will continue the normal route to Harewood Road, take the 3rd exit at the Russley Rd roundabout, turn left on Wairakei Rod, turn left on Wooldridge St, turn right on Harewood Rd, turn left on Crofton St, turn right on Sawyers Arms Rd, take the 3rd exit at the Highsted Rd roundabout, and take the 1st exit at the Harewood Road roundabout to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling southbound towards Westlake will continue the normal route to Harewood Rd, take the 3rd exit at the Highsted Rd roundabout, take the 1st exit at the Sawyers Arms Rd roundabout, turn left on Crofton St, and turn right on Harewood Rd to resume the normal route. 

Several stops will be affected during this detour, so we advise customers to plan ahead. This detour will be over from 5am Monday 12 January.

There will be several closed and temporary bus stops along Halswell Rd due to the road improvements currently underway and estimated to take two and a half years. These will impact Route 7 passengers as well as some other routes that use Halswell Rd.

Please take note of the signs installed by contractors at the closed stops, directing you to the nearest stop/temporarily placed stop. Allow for additional time to get to your stop in case stops have been moved as the road works progress.
