All detours and updates

This timetable is valid until the end of service Friday 29 August 2025.
From 1 September, the Route 85 service is changing. Together with Bentley Coachlines, we will be commencing 6-month trial. The trial brings increased frequency, quadruple the trips, an expanded service area, and earlier trips.
We are keeping the existing 8 x Metro trips each day. With the expanded service, we've split the trips between Routes 84 and 85, to allow better coverage of the Rolleston suburbs.
Both Metro and Bentley buses will run on Routes 84 and 85, but there are critical differences in how they operate — from payment options, to how they appear in journey planning tools, to whether concessions are accepted. It’s essential you understand these before you travel.

From Monday 18th August for 30 days there will be road works on Athelstan Street that will require the Route 641 service to detour from its usual route. 

Morning buses travelling towards Christchurch will not be impacted by this detour.  
 
Afternoon buses travelling towards Woolston will follow the normal route to Barrington St and turn right on to Milton St to resume the normal route.

From Monday 18th August for 30 days there will be road works on Athelstan Street that will require the Route 60 service to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling eastbound towards Southshore will follow the normal route to Frankleigh St and continue to Milton St to resume the normal route.  

Buses travelling westbound towards Hillmorton will not be impacted by this detour.

From Monday 11th August there will be road works on Sparks Rd that will require the Route 60 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling westbound towards Hillmorton will continue the normal route to Frankleigh St, turn left on to Lyttelton St, turn right on to Rose St, and turn right on to Hoon Hay Rd to resume the normal route. 

Buses travelling eastbound towards Southshore will not be impacted by this detour.

From Monday 18th August for 30 days there will be road works on Athelstan Street that will require the Route 44 service to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling northbound towards Shirley will follow the normal route to Barrington St and turn right on to Milton St to resume the normal route.  

Buses travelling southbound towards Westmorland will not be impacted by this detour.

From Monday 18th August for 12 days there will be road works on Pegasus Main Road that will require the Route 97 service to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling eastbound towards Pegasus will follow the normal route to Infinity Dr, turn right on to Hodgkinson Rd, turn left on to Barnes St, turn right on to Pegasus Main Rd and finish the trip at the temp stop near Barnes St.  

Buses travelling westbound towards Woodend will start the trip at the temp stop near Barnes St and resume the normal route.

From Monday 18th August for 12 days there will be road works on Pegasus Main Road that will require the Route 95 service to detour from its usual route. 

Buses travelling eastbound towards Pegasus will follow the normal route to Infinity Dr, turn right on to Hodgkinson Rd, turn left on to Barnes St, turn right on to Pegasus Main Rd and finish the trip at the temp stop near Barnes St.  

Buses travelling westbound towards Woodend will start the trip at the temp stop near Barnes St and resume the normal route.

From Monday 18th August there will be road works on Jones Road and Two Chain Road that will require the Route 820 service to detour from its usual route until further notice.  

Buses travelling westbound towards Burnham will follow the normal route to Izone Dr, turn left on to Jones Rd, turn right on to Hoskyns Rd, turn right on to SH1 Main South Rd, turn right on to Walkers Rd, and turn left on to Two Chain Rd to resume the normal route.

Buses travelling eastbound towards Lincoln via Rolleston will follow the normal route to Two Chain Rd, turn right on to Walkers Rd, turn left on to Main South Rd, turn left on to Hoskyns Rd, turn left on to Jones Rd, and turn right on to Izone Dr to resume the normal route.

From Monday 11th August there will be road works on Kingsbury Ave that will require the Routes 722 and 724 services to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Morning buses travelling towards Christchurch will follow the normal route to King St, turn left on to Seddon St, and turn right on to West Belt to resume the normal route.  

Afternoon buses travelling towards Rangiora will not be impacted by this detour.

From Monday 11th August there will be road works on Kingsbury Ave that will require the Route 1 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling northbound towards Rangiora will follow the normal route to King St, turn left on to Seddon St, and turn right on to West Belt to resume the normal route.  

Buses travelling southbound towards Cashmere will not be impacted by this detour.

From Tuesday 22nd July there will be road works on Lincoln Rolleston Road that will require the Route 673 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Morning trips travelling towards City will not be impacted by this detour. 

Afternoon trips travelling towards Rolleston will continue the normal route to Tennyson St, take the second exit in the roundabout on to Springston Rolleston Rd, turn left on to Taita Dr, turn right on to Branthwaite Dr, turn right on to Territory St, turn right on to Kestrel St, turn left on to Branthwaite Dr, turn left on to Taita Dr, and turn left on to Springston Rolleston Rd to resume the normal route.

From Tuesday 22nd July there will be road works on Lincoln Rolleston Road that will require the Routes 672 and 674 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Morning trips travelling towards Christchurch will continue the normal route to Branthwaite Dr, turn right on to Territory St, turn right on to Kestrel St, turn left on to Branthwaite St, turn left on to Taita Dr, turn right on to Springston Rolleston Rd, take the second exit in the roundabout on to Tennyson St to resume the normal route.

Afternoon trips travelling towards Rolleston will continue the normal route to Tennyson St, take the second exit in the roundabout on to Springston Rolleston Rd, turn left on to Taita Dr, turn right on to Branthwaite Dr, turn right on to Territory St, turn right on to Kestrel St, turn left on to Branthwaite Dr, turn left on to Taita Dr, and turn left on to Springston Rolleston Rd to resume the normal route.

From Monday 16th June there will be road works on Bower Avenue that will require the Route 671 school service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling in the PM towards Burnham will continue the normal route to Racecourse Rd, continue along Racecourse Rd, turn right on to Waterloo Rd, turn right on to SH1 Carmen Rd, turn left on to Buchanans Rd to resume the normal route.  

Buses travelling in the AM towards Riccarton will not be impacted by this detour.

From Thursday 10th July the next stage of road works in this area begins, requiring the Route 130 to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling westbound towards Hei Hei will follow the normal route to Waimairi Rd, turn right on to Greers Rd, right on to Memorial Ave, right on to Ilam Rd and left on to Creyke Rd to resume the normal route.  

Buses travelling eastbound towards Avonhead will be unaffected by this detour.

From Monday 16th June there will be road works on Buchanans Rd that will require the Route 130 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling westbound towards Hei Hei will continue the normal route to  Racecourse Rd, continue along Racecourse Rd, turn right on to Waterloo Rd, turn right on to SH1 Carmen Rd and turn left on to Buchanans Rd to resume the normal route.  

Buses travelling eastbound towards Avonhead will not be impacted by this detour.

From Thursday 10th July there will be road closures on Creyke Rd that will require Route 3 service to detour from its usual route until further notice. 

Buses travelling eastbound towards Sumner will continue the normal route to Maidstone Rd, turn left on to Waimairi Rd, turn right on to Greers Rd, turn right on to Memorial Ave and turn right on to Ilam Rd to resume the normal route.  

Buses travelling westbound towards Airport will not be impacted by this detour.

There will be several closed and temporary bus stops along Halswell Rd due to the road improvements currently underway and estimated to take two and a half years. These will impact Route 7 passengers as well as some other routes that use Halswell Rd.

Please take note of the signs installed by contractors at the closed stops, directing you to the nearest stop/temporarily placed stop. Allow for additional time to get to your stop in case stops have been moved as the road works progress.
