Contactless payments are live!
Customers can now pay a standard Metro fare using a debit or credit card on all Metro services in Christchurch, Selwyn and Waimakariri. This includes Google Pay and Apple Pay using devices such as a phone or smartwatch.
A standard Metro fare is the same price as an adult Metrocard fare, and there is no transaction fee when using contactless payments.
You can still pay with a Metrocard or cash, and if you normally pay a concession fare (child/youth, Community Services, Total Mobility) continue using your Metrocard when boarding the bus or ferry.
SuperGold Card holders can also keep showing their card during SuperGold times to board for free
