Choose your new way to pay
Metrocards can no longer be purchased as we make the transition to Motu Move, our new payment and ticketing system. You will need to choose a new way to pay before Metrocard is removed from our network later this year.
It's your choice! Motu Move lets you pay with:
- Debit/credit card
- A phone or smartwatch
- Prepaid Motu Move card
Fares are the same as Metrocard and concessions can be linked to your preferred way to pay.

Paying with Metrocard
You can still board Metro services using Metrocard for now, but this system will be phased out later this year. Cash and onboard top ups will also be removed at this time.
We will let customers know before these changes take place.
Metrocard top-up locations
Metrocards can still be topped up at the locations listed below while Metrocard is still being used.
If you need to pick up or top up a prepaid Motu Move card, please check the Motu Move retail map. Please note that Motu Move cards cannot be picked up or topped up at all the locations listed below except the Bus Interchange.
Metrocard will be removed from our network later this year as we switch to Motu Move, our new ticketing and payments system.
If you still wish to top up your Metrocard, we recommend only topping up smaller amounts and running your balance down before choosing your new way to pay.
