Prepare for disruptions to Metro routes over the Anzac long weekend
Bus services on almost all Metro routes in Waimakariri, Christchurch and Selwyn will be disrupted over Anzac weekend, Friday 24 April-Monday 27 April.
One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha is set to host its opening events, Super Round 2026, and Anzac parades and services are set to take place over the weekend too. Both sets of events will require road closures, which means almost all Metro services will be detoured. We also anticipate high traffic volumes around the stadium which are likely to cause delays to all services traveling through the central city.
We recommend customers plan ahead and allow extra time if they are travelling on public transport over these days.
Thanks to our customers for your patience and understanding. To see if a detour will be in place for your service, check its timetable on metro.co.nz.
For Super Round 2026 eventgoers still looking to lock in their game day transport – Event Direct by Metro still has availability. Event Direct is a pre-booked shuttle bus service giving eventgoers a guaranteed ride from their selected pick-up hub directly to the stadium event precinct and back again after the event.
The Metro network will operate to normal timetables with no additional capacity, and routes servicing the Bus Interchange may experience high demand, particularly after large events.
