SuperGold Card holders travel for free from 9am weekdays and all weekend
Free travel is one of the perks of reaching 65!
With your SuperGold card you can travel free on any Metro bus and ferry service in Greater Christchurch after 9am weekdays, all weekend and on public holidays. Simply show your SuperGold Card to the driver when boarding and you’ll be on your way free of charge!
What if I'm travelling before 9am on weekdays?
Make sure you have your Metrocard to get the best value. If you have a combined SuperGold and Community Services card, you’re be able to get $1 bus fares and $2 ferry fares before 9am on weekdays. You will need to have a Metrocard, and then follow a few easy steps to add your Community Services Card to your Metrocard, to receive this concession. Find out more about the Community Services concession.
Can I present a digital version of my SuperGold card?
Please note that the physical card must be sighted by the driver. Unfortunately we cannot accept digital versions of the card as it increases the opportunity for fraudulent activity on our services.
Are your buses senior-friendly?
Yes, all of our buses are senior-friendly, with priority seating areas near the front of the bus. All buses also have:
- Super-low floors and the ability to kneel to meet the kerb. Please ask the driver if you need the bus to kneel
- Ramps fitted to allow easy access for most mobility device users. The driver will manually fold these out.
If bus travel becomes challenging, the Total Mobility Scheme is another option to help people with impairments to access appropriate transport.
