With our simple new fares, you can now travel on any Metro bus route across Christchurch, Selwyn and Waimakariri for $2 or less with your Metrocard.
Removal of zones make travel cheaper and simpler
Our universal flat-fare trial, which was announced as part of the Environment Canterbury 2022/23 Annual Plan, simplifies and reduces fares from the existing three zone fare structure. The launch also coincided with the end of the national half-price fares promotion on 30 June 2023.
Free travel for Under 13s
From 14 August 2023, young children aged 5-12 travel FREE on all Metro services when paying with their Metrocard. Kids under 5 continue to travel free (no Metrocard required for the wee ones). Find out more on how to access this concession.
