The Total Mobility scheme assists eligible people to access appropriate transport to meet your daily needs and enhance your community participation.
As well as heavily subsidised door-to-door trips, your Total Mobility card gives you discounted public transport fares, so that you can choose a transport option that suits you and your trip.
Get access to a discounted fare on bus and ferry services with your Total Mobility Card, and a companion can travel with you for free.
How to apply for a Total Mobility travel concession
Total Mobility concessions can be linked to:
- a prepaid Motu Move card
- a debit or credit card
- a phone or smartwatch
Follow these easy steps to link your concession
1. Go to motumove.govt.nz and create an account
2. Add a credit or debit card to your account
3. Link your concession to your Motu Move contactless payment or Motu Move card.
4. Tag on using your chosen card or device
Choose the contactless card or device you would like to use when you travel and ensure you use this card or device the first time you tag on so your concession is applied.
Customers with more than one concession
Motu Move lets you link more than one concession to your preferred way to pay so you're always getting the best fare.
For example, this means you can link a Total Mobility concession and a SuperGold concession to the same payment method.

Boarding with your concession
Once you have linked your Total Mobility Card to your contactless payment or Motu Move card, just tag on when you board the bus or ferry.
With the concession loaded on your Motu Move card, the concession fare will automatically be deducted. Daily and weekly fare caps will apply.
How much is the fare?
Fares with a Total Mobility concession are:
Bus - $2
Ferry - $4

Bring a travel companion for free
If you need a companion, they can travel for free with you onboard Metro services when you show your Total Mobility card.
Just let your driver know that the person is travelling as your companion and they'll do the rest - you don't need to tap your Motu Move card a second time.
Accessibility
Our buses are designed to be accessible for people with impairments, access challenges or limited mobility, with priority seating areas near the front of the bus. All buses also have:
- Super-low floors and the ability to kneel to meet the kerb. Please ask the driver if you need the bus to kneel
- Ramps fitted to allow easy access for most mobility device users. The driver will manually fold these out.
